Mission u (formerly Schools of Christian Mission) is United Methodist Women's transformative education program that offers biblically grounded studies relevant to the times. For 2021, Mission u will be online and will be jointly sponsored with the CA-NV United Methodist Church. Classes are open to everyone. The disproportionate incarceration of black men is in the headlines. At the same time, black girls and women are being criminalized at a shocking rate and very few people are aware of it. This study, ‘Pushout: the Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools’, is based on Monique Morris' book of the same title and will shine the spotlight on this crisis and the racism that undergirds this troubling reality. The study calls for action and advocacy by the faith community. Pastors who complete all study sessions will receive 1 CEU.
